Its color is a mixture of green, gray and blue that is completely different from the others we are used to seeing on the high seas. However, the rare shark it is found in some countries such as Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana, Venezuela and literally in Brazil it has already been found in the states of Pará, Amapá and Maranhão. In the Brazilian territory it gained a name, around here we call it raccoon shark who is from the same family as Carcharinidae which includes others we know, one of them is the bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas).
What draws a lot of attention from this shark It is the shape of its snout that allows it to detect prey at the bottom of the sea to capture its food source such as crustaceans, squid and various fish. In the hunt he manages to be fast due to his agility being benefited with the shape of his body that is thin and his fins that work in fast movements. According to scholars, it can reach an average speed of 24 km/h, depending on its size.
A species it is threatened in extinction, even though it is not commercial fishing, but due to the use of gill nets by fishermen. Research shows that in recent months, there has been a 90% reduction in these sharks, considering the information, the odds that they will disappear forever from our seas are great.

We must denounce illegal fishing practices and that the responsible bodies can intensify supervision on the coastlines, both in Brazil and anywhere in the world to preserve nature, especially when it comes to endangered species such as the Coati shark.
