Overdrive Mode, which adds more realistic ray tracing to Cyberpunk 2077, is now available

Nvidia announced that the new Overdrive mode, which adds Path Tracing (or Full Ray Tracing) in Cyberpunk 2077, is now available in the game. It is the first AAA title with this feature.

According to Nvidia, the new technology “is a taste of the future of what will come with Full Ray Tracing, and we are working with CD Projekt Red on further enhancements, bug fixes and performance optimizations”.

When playing with this enabled, reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion and more are all improved, giving a glimpse into the future of video game graphics. Cyberpunk 2077 utilizes Nvidia DLSS 3 GeForce RTX 40 Series cards to multiply performance, allowing gamers to experience the majesty of a fully ray traced Night City.

It is worth mentioning that it is possible to use Overdrive mode on GeForce RTX Series 20 and Series 30 cards, but the absence of DLSS 3 on them will prevent you from getting the best performance.

Talking more about RTX, Nvidia said that out of the millions of GeForce RTX desktop GPU owners, 83% of Series 40 gamers have enabled Ray Tracing and 79% of Series 40 gamers have accelerated performance with DLSS in RTX compatible games .

Additionally, the popularity and adoption of Ray Tracing and DLSS has outpaced other advancements and technologies such as 4K, which is used by 28% of gamers, and 144Hz+ high refresh rate gaming monitors, which are used by 62% of gamers. owners of GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs.

Lastly, four more games gained DLSS support, including:

• Everspace 2 coming out of early access with DLSS 2 support (available now)
• High on Life, which received a DLSS 2 performance update (available now)

• Like a Dragon: Ishin!, which got a DLSS 2 performance update (available now)
